Martinman complains about the language and source of this news article.
"First, this story is posted from a highly political website. The type of lanuage[sic] used below is not what is used by a "news" agency."
I am unsure if you are complaining more about the material of the article itself, or just about the site that published it.
Why don't you find the same story on a site that you think more highly of and post it, so that we can all enjoy the more newsworthy language? I, for one would like to read it.

The Chevy Volt is a great car that will run on gas or electricity. It will save a lot of money when running electric.

It constantly amazes me how negative people are on the forums. Constantly blaming OBAMA or Bush or the government for all of our woes. Sue the good ole USA has problems, But other countries are much worse. I live on the border with Mexico and our sister city Juarez had 10,000 innocent people (even a school with little kids) killed in 2011. It is dangerous to be on the streets Day or night. The cartels killed lots of Police (local and federal). Greece's economy is in the dumpster much worse than ours. People stave and die of diseases in Africa. Unless you live in someplace like the Netherlands life has its problems. Sure our government could be run leaner. There is a lot of greed and corruption here. But the greedy corrupt people think they are in the right. (Don't make it right, though)
I will be the first to admit that the USA has some problems, lots of countries are much worse than ours. It is no one persons fault... but is our collective diversity. Rich want to get richer and as Americans they have that right. Middle class want to get by and move-up a little. The poor would like to be better off. Much of the time their problems Come from their poverty.
Why not try and keep these threads more positive and factual. If you think that the military spent too much money on electric vehicles Say so... but be constructive. To blame it on OBAMA, or ROMNEY or Bush is ludicrous. They are not kings or dictators. Remember we have Congressmen and Senators... All working for the people in their districts. Sure our government makes mistakes and overspends... but I'll bet everyone has made a few mistakes and paid to much for something.
Come on guys lets be more positive. You'll have a much happier life... and you'll probably live longer and maybe even prosper.

You call Volt a luxury car? Wow! You have have pretty low demands on luxury in Texas.

First, this story is posted from a highly political website. The type of lanuage used below is not what is used by a "news" agency.
So, instead of simply buying the political rhetoric, stop to think for a minute.
How large is your average military base?
Outside of retiree pension and healthcare costs, the military's next largest cost is for fuel. The average distance for most on-base trips is just a few miles - even 'round-trip' on base driving is less than the Volts electric-only range, even at Andrews AFB. Travel generally done at 30mph or less, with repeated stop-signs. The least fuel-efficient phase of driving regardless of the vehicle - low-speed stop-and-go traffic.
Having a fleet of all-electric staff vehicles is probably one of the biggest fuel-saving strategies a base could employ. You already have electricians as part of your enlisted force. An internal electric grid infrastructure that can handle numerous electric vehicle charging needs. Not to mention you can place vehicle chargers anywhere on base, because the base 'owns' everything, eliminating the 'not in my back yard' complaints.
Within the United States, the U.S. government is the largest single consumer of gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel. And within the federal government, the military is the largest single consumer of all three. During the Iraq war, the DoD was consuming more than 1.5 million gallons of fuel PER DAY - that is 1/5 what all the cars in the U.S. use on a daily basis.
And let's not forget, that the DoD buys and replaces tens-of-thousands of vehicles annually. Following the government rescuing Chrysler in 1979, Congress and the Reagan administration bought tens-of-thousands of Chrysler K-cars and Dodge pickups. For quite some time, Chrysler products were the only vehicles bought if they had a vehicle that met the specific military need.
Personally, I see this as a very effective cost-cutting strategy by the military.
Remember, it is Congress that authorizes the DoD budget, not the White House. And it is each local base that manages its own operating budgets, not Congress nor the White House.
So, why would any credible reporting agency have such a negative take, on a program that will save the DoD millions in fuel costs?
[Dana Carvey "Church Lady" voice-over]
Could it be the 'SATAN'...!?

The 'Washington Beacon' is nothing little more than a conservative political blog website. Just look at their "stories", and the tone of the language used:
Obama and The Pimp With The Limp: Update: Limping pimp stands by claim that POTUS interview conducted live this morning (Really...?)
Rampage in Cairo: Free speech and U.S. Embassy under attack in Egyptian capital (Would *you* define that video as "free speech"?)
Arab World Celebrates 9/11 by Blaming Attacks on Israel, U.S. Jews (Yeah, that's appropriate)
Israel, Lies, and Videotape (a little more 'hate', anyone...?)
House Boy Blues: Report: Husband of Democratic donor accused of sexually harassing domestic worker ('House Boy' - now there's an appropriate comment from the 'religious conservative base')
The Cairo-Tehran Express: Egyptian-Iranian intelligence meeting prompts fears of a new Middle East terror axis (gotta love that thought-logic process...)
Controversial Couture: Obama campaign: Dr. Biden wears costume jewelry (What? She wears *jewelry*...?)
Charles G. Koch: Corporate Cronyism Harms America (Pot, calling Kettle... call on Line One) (well, at least you can argue they're clearly "experts" on buying influence)
Drone program something you 'struggle with,' Obama says (Hey! Its not like they're taking this out-of-context here or anything...)
Obama Gave The Chicago Teachers Union A Shout Out In 2008 (I don't know what offends him more - the concept of a 'shout-out', or the fact that he can't find anything newer than 2008...)
DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz Fundraises Off Sexist Insults (like all conservative fund raisers are darling little angels...)
-----
Amazing how blinded people have become, solely as a result of their politics...
This is the reason WHY America is failing...

But thats our money!
If you tell one lie you will have to tell endless lies to cover it up.
So if you thrw money at a bad thing you will have to continue to do so to make it look like it is not a bad thing.
It sounded better in my head!

Hey Sportdeck - the thing is we are not going to be supporting the terrorists and the commies - when you use oil it props up Putin and Al Quaeda - they both benefit from high priced oil - go armed forces - this is the kind of thing we need to be doing, plus it is American made.
Buying gas supports Dubai corporations (terrorist supporters - no Americans there) and Putin - do we want to support our enemies???? Driving a pickup may be redneck, but it does nothing for America, and simply supports out enemies.

It was cost justified using the $50/gallon bio-fuel that the military is being forced to buy, and then it will be recharged for free using Solyndra solar panels. Under this model, the GM bailout and Solyndra stimulus will be cost effective in no time.
If you think this is a good idea, I'd like to buy some of your ocean front property in AZ, Just send me the title. Don't worry, the check is in the mail.
