Gas prices break record highs

Richmond-Times Dispatch -- Gas prices in Virginia are on track this year to be the most expensive ever.

The average price of gas year-to-date in the state is $3.55 a gallon, up from the previous yearly average high of $3.48 in 2008, according to AAA Mid-Atlantic.

September's monthly average in Virginia of $3.69 was the most expensive for the month, surpassing the previous record-high average for September of $3.65 a gallon in 2008.

Virginia prices broke daily record highs every day between Aug. 20 and Sept. 13, at which point prices started to decline — until Tuesday, when prices again set a daily record high for Oct. 2 of $3.62.

The national average price of gasoline has broken daily record highs every day for 43 consecutive days since Monday, Aug. 20. Tuesday's average of $3.78 a gallon was 16 cents

Don't blame it all on the Pres or the Congress. But isn't it funny how when there's a Repub in the White House it's completely his fault?

Don't blame it ALL on Obama... BUT
he is just the most recent to do it
he did more of it than his predecessors
he is the only one running for re-election
he is the one who wants to do more of the same for four more years
and get different results
His policies failed because they were passed 3 to 4 years ago, not because they were opposed AFTER they didn't work!

Coincidence on a national level we have UNEMPLOYMENT numbers"adjusted" by the Gov't to hide EMPLOYMENT being at record lows, and length of unemployment getting to record highs, Disability clains at record highs too!

Don't put this all on Obama. We've been deficit spending like drunken sailors under presidents of both parties, which drives up the debt, which causes the Fed to "print" more money, which makes the value of the dollar go down, which drives up the price of everything for you and me. The out of control spending in Washington is more important than just some nebulous debt out there that no one is asking us to pay back, or a sovereign credit rating that might make certain kinds of investments worth less. This hits you right in your pocketbook.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantitative_easing

Also, the outstanding sovereign debt is about $16 trillion, which is more than all the money currently in circulation. It we confiscated everything from everybody, we still couldn't pay off the debt. It's ridiculous, and it's been that way under three presidents, although it's spiked since 2008 or so. We're not only running in the wrong direction, we're speeding up!

Under the current plan energy prices would necessarily sky rocket. Change the plan in one month.

@bkplenge -- "I'm sure the speculators and oil companies are proud of themselves."

Of course they are and they should be. Greed is job-one of speculators and oil companies.

It's consumers' job to restrain their greed by consuming fuel wisely. American consumers are not smart consumers.

And through all this, Big Oil and their bought-and-paid-for Congress Critters still refuse to give up the subsidies and tax breaks that push their HUGE profits to absurd levels while we, the regular folks the Congress Critters are SUPPOSED to represent, get ridiculous prices to deal with. Perhaps it is time to clean (the) House and Senate and elect people who really will represent us and not their lobbying patrons.

Slowly raise the temperature of the water and boil the frog to death. Slowly raise the price of gas and nobody will complain.

Oil companies and Obama to blame!!! Obama has a deaf ear to the Gas Crisis in this country or he doesn't even care!!! I'll bet on the last one, If he rattles the Oil Industry cage now he won't his kickbacks for his campaign!!!

One and done!! If he can't do the job, cut him loose!!!!!

3.69 would be a bargain in New York. I paid 3.939 at a BP and that was a fluke because the next cheapest in the area was 4.079. There were cars lined up to get in.
